Interview With Tayler On Her First Day Of School

In this podcast I am interviewing my granddaughter Tayler on her first day of 3rd grade. Her teacher’s name is Miss Gannon. The best part of her day was playing games. The hardest thing she had to do was write words. The easiest part of the day was to get on the rug. Not sure what they do on the rug? Apparently no one did anything funny on her first day. She ate lunch with her friends and played tag at recess. One of the rules at school that is different from at home is touching. She does have a lot of no tough limitations at home. She doesn’t remember who she sat with at lunch. She had a rough time at school with writing her words. She said “it makes my arms hurt”. She also said when she struggles with something it makes it hard to listen to the instructions.

Interview With Aiden On His First Day Of School

Aiden is my grandson. He started 1st grade this year. At first he was not able to remember his teachers name but as I asked him other questions he was able to remember. His teacher’s name is Miss Nicki. His favorite part of school was getting a cookie and a cub of baby “mellows”. The hardest thing for his was doing work. The easiest part of school was Miss Nicki asked what they wanted to be when they grew up. Aiden has maintained he wants to be a chef or an astronaut. When aske dif anyone did anything funny he told me his teacher made funny faces. He played with his friends at recess and climbed some sort of rope thing. The rules at school and at home seem to be similar. He is not allowed to climb on the couch at home and he is not allowed to climb on the table at school.

Towards the end of the interview he got distracted because his grandpa came in and started rifling through the treats sitting on the table. We ended the interview with him saying something about school and chalk and that he sat with his friends at lunch. Aiden’s biggest struggle so far this year is having a new teacher. He had a good teacher in kindergarten.

Welcome To Behind The Brown Door Podcast

Hello all and welcome to my podcast “Behind The Brown Door”.  My name is Robin Huber. First, I must shamelessly admit I got my inspiration for the name of my podcast from my brother-in-law and Author Chris Riley.  He is a writer and has a blog titled Behind the Blue Door.

In this podcast I will be telling my own personal stories. I will also be interviewing others about the things going in their lives.

My first podcasts have been posted.

First a little bit about me.  I am in my late 40’s heading towards 50’s. I have one biological daughter and two daughters that are my husbands from his prior marriage.  My husband’s name is Corey. We met at our church Oasis Vineyard. Oasis is a non-denominational Christian church in Taylorsville, Utah.

I have lived in Utah my whole life. I have a sister in California, Sacramento area and five half siblings that were from our dad’s first marriage. Some of the half siblings live in Utah and others live in Idaho.

One of my favorite things to do is fly to New Orleans and spend time with my NOLA family.  My husband’s brother Craig and sister-in-law Christy live out there. The sister-in-law is from NOLA.  At the time of this recording, we have been there 4 times for Mardi Gras.  We skipped the 2020 due to finances. It seems that was a good choice since that was a hot spot for COVID after Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras was canceled in 2021 due to COVID.

This podcast will always be free, but I am always willing to take donations.  You can VENMO me at @Robin-Huber-2. A scan code is also below.
